Pensford War Memorial

Our Parish war memorial, unveiled in 1925, is a Grade II listed monument. It stands on its original site at the corner of Church Street, Pensford BS39 4HL and the main A37.  It commemorates the fallen of the First World War (1914-1918) and Second World War (1939-1945). The plot of land was presented by Miss Ellen Flower, a local resident. It was built by Messrs F Blacker and Sons of Clutton, with the masonry work being undertaken by Messrs J A Ford and Sons of Publow. The memorial was unveiled on 11 July 1925 by Colonel the Hon E Strachey and dedicated by the Archdeacon of Bath. After the Second World War the names of those who fell in 1939 to 1945 were added to the plinth. Conservation and repair work was carried out in 2003, funded by War Memorials Trust, including changes to inscriptions.
